Laundry Room Ideas

When it comes to laundry room designs, I think you'll appreciate my laundry room pictures posted here. I finally completed this room except for the tile floor which will come later.

When it comes to designing a laundry room, I use an emphasize on old southern craftsmanship. Here at right, I have fitted some of the doors above before priming. These laundry room storage cabinets have a large corbel bracket with a narrow shelf between it, a 12" deep stainless steel sink, and a clothes rod above between the brackets.

Above I had just set the counter top and back-splash. I use (less adhesive) blue masking tape to caulk in the inside corners. After running the caulk and spreading it out with your finger, I remove the tape for a clean line.

Laundry Room Photos

You can see most of the true colors in this photo here, Sea Bean on wall, Taupe Formica, White Satin Cabinets. The Sea Bean is a green-grey pastel. This room is very light and I wanted it that way so the taupe counter top throws a little contrast into the room. This cabinet has an under-counter light.

Here you can see the bracket design incorporating the clothes rod over the sink. Crown Moulding was added to the room and sits on a 3/4 band at the top of the cabinets. This extends the Crown Moulding out in front of the doors.

The doors are constructed of rails and styles 2.25 inches wide (Poplar) with an ogee profile. The flat panel is MDF 1/4 inches thick. This helps to decrease the weight of the doors enough to just use two hinges on these longer doors.

A trash pullout and laundry hamper pullout were installed across from the washer and dryer.

I also had room for two drawer which will come in very handy for this room.

Behind the sink is enough room for a mirror and towel rack to the right. If you need to hang clothes over the sink that are wet, you're all set up for it.

Two large cabinets above the washer and dryer hold lots of storage. You never have enough and eventually they are filled with something.
